Korea's Next Top Model 5 Ep 3 Review: The Guy Who Wears Neon Boxers and the Girl Who Looked Like A Beggar

Holler from here to there! Another day has come, and here I am to welcome the day right with my newest episode review of KNTM Cycle 5. Thank you very much for all who enjoyed reading my takes on the photos. I enjoyed writing them as well. Keep the pageviews going!

For this week, the contestants were asked to act as talents for rap sensation Beenzino's "How Do I Look?" music video. Also, this week was their makeovers week, so the guys and the gals had the chance to rock their new 'dos for this one.

I really had a hard time looking for the individual pictures of the contestants. Only a handful had their takes immortalized through GIFs. Thank you, blessed people. Keep 'em coming. So, I'll use the more available makeover before and after photos when doing their evaluations.

The sort of a class picture shot of the models with the extras and Beenzino (center) for "How Do I Look?" Jaehyuk made eating chips chic and FIERCE. Rawr. Visions of chic Parisian gals in 1971 idling along the Champs Elysees is what Jaehyuk's giving in to this shot. Snobbish yet chic and elegant. Oh, I need to restrain myself. Oh, wait. Is Chulwoo gobbling the detergent?

First up is Bang Taeeun. (I had to use the previous template for this review. Ugh.) His makeover made him edgier. Nothing that much was done to his hair, and he seems happy with it. He's really daring with his kiss with Jieun, and that gave him extra points for dedication and willingness. In his final cut, however, he gave me the vibe of a young and angry Korean father with a gorgeously stunning wife. HAHA.

Next up is Jung Donggyu. First of all, I'd like to laugh for three minutes upon seeing his makeover pictures. The before one is so hilarious! ^^ I like his makeover as well. He got side shaved hair colored reddish brown or medium brown. As for the shoot, he's youthful for me. Which is what the shoot required of him. I think he did a good job here, but not that good to be saved for another week. Oh, the agony. :((

Aww c'mon, this isn't too bad..

Jian: I looked like a beggar! *major, major sobs*
Me: If all beggars were like you, I'd be a goner. #beggarchic
For this episode, Han Jian's the girl who looked like a beggar. At least according to her! AHAHA but when she was styled well, she's chic. I like her charm during the shoot. She was amazing, with her ideas to her own innovations during the final cut. She's daring, sassy and brainy for fashion shoots.

Kim Yerim's makeover turned out really freaking great. She got short hair. Seungsoo's smiling from ear to ear. I like her makeover as well. She looked cuter and fresh. For the shoot, she got the American pinup girl thingy with Minjung. Ms Han and the team gave her loads of praises during the shoot. I kinda agreed with them, but I wished she would've given more. I expected more from her, but still, a performance worth another week's stay.

Yerim's other half for the shoot got short hair too, colored red. Kim Minjung looked like a sassier version of Ginny Weasley, complete with the freckles and red hair. For the shoot, I thought she gave more than Yerim. I can see her determination to succeed. Don't worry, baby. I appreciated it a lot. Good job!

Spell chic. H-Y-U-N J-I-E-U-N. Chic makeover. From a common face to a headturner. I like the elegance she gave in the shoot. She willingly kissed Taeeun too. All for the non-elimination. I like the styling, too. She looked like a posh Korean socialite who was cruising along Gangnam with her girl friends. Good performance as well.

Choi Jungjin's smile is so infectious. I also love his face. He can easily convey emotions with that kind of face. Versatility in emotions is very important in modelling. He's kinda worried that he's too old for his partners Seunghee and Donggyu (he's 29, a year shy of being 30). Well, in the shoot, he gave more youthful vibe than the two combined. His smile can light up a room. It looked genuine and sweet. He's also cool with the little dance thing he did towards the end of the cut.

When I saw Kim Jonghoon's makeover, I was like, WTH? He's Hanamichi Sakuragi, high fashion version! :O He's a bit scary but still, I know he can werk this. During the shoot, Ms Han commented that while Jonghoon's not that bad in acting, the whole thing's uncreative for her. I kinda agree with her. He tends to be over the top at times, and he needs to tame that. As a drunk, he did a commendable job, but he still needs to tone it down a teeny bit to be more effective.

Ah, the chemistry! *swoons* #candid #pinkboxersXneonboxers
My mighty glorious Shin Jaehyuk. The love team that launched a thousand GIFs. He's one of the superstars of this video for me. I know a lot of girls would agree with me, right? He got the gay couple (or couple-eu as per Jaehyuk) with Chulwoo (also an amazing discovery here). I'm not making fun of Koreans here, but I just think that their accent is charmingly chic. Like Asian chic. Anyway, he did a wonderful job for this mission. He's not too gay (read: super gay with sequins and pink ink) nor too stiff. He's effeminate here, and his facial features helped him win a lot of hearts. Including me. Since day 1. Until forever. *incoherent babbling ensues*

Look at that caress..

Ah, Chulwoo. You totally sold this one to millions. Stop restraining the love, Beenzino. Chic cross legs is CHIC.
Lee Chulwoo's the other half of Jaehyuk (how I wish!), he was the standout between the two. Well, I kinda agreed. Since Jaehyuk was given lesser exposure during the episode, he shone the brightest during their takes. He's creative, he had a lot of ideas in mind, he seemed comfortable with the skinship, and the neon boxers. THE NEON BOXERS MADE THE DAY. I officially declare this day as the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE NEON BOXERS. We were all over the moon with his daring. For me, he really looked gay throughout the MV. That means he made it believable, and that's one of the qualities a good model has to have. Well done, Chulwoo. *slow clap*

My Shiseido goddess Hwang Gippeum. I'm telling you, if they got her eliminated here, I'm gonna make sure that their faces will be ripped off their heads STAT. Good thing she delivered quite effortlessly in her takes. She got the sexy girl, and she's indeed sexy. Not sexy in a porno slutty bimbo way, but sexy in a chic and high fashion way. She has a bangin' body, which is sexy in real world and fashion standards. She's one of the megastars for this mission.

Diggin' the tousle-haired before photo. The ombre'd after's more posh.

Youthfulness personified. That is Kim Seunghee. She was asked to play the youthful ones in the video, along with Donggyu and Jungjin. For me, she was refreshing in the takes. Her newly-ombre'd hair helped her get the fresh, youthful look. She's sweet and cute, and with that, she was able to escape the elimination. At least for me. ^^

Dear, oh dear Jung Yoonsu. Oh, Yoonsu. Oh, oh, oh. You are adorbtastically cute, but you need to work you tush off! He was grouped with Jian and Seungsoo to be gangsters. I liked the gangstah pose he did with Jian before their takes. I wished he did more of that during their shoot. He's blank all throughout the sesh. Same face, same emotions. He also screwed his final cut, with him tying his shoes towards the close. You should've done something more gangstah-ish, like perhaps throw your headband to the camera and stuff like zat. Ah, judges. We can all see potential in him, right? Save him for another week! Am beggin' ya! *doe eyes blinking*

And finally, Han Seungsoo aka The Real Star of This Shoot. TBH, I like his before look. He's cute and crumpled-face and all that stuff. Now, he's manlier and tougher looking, which worked to his advantage for this shoot. Is he the main star of the video? He even outstaged Beenzino! I agreed with Yoonju; he looked like a foreign actor. The shaved cut suited him the best, especially in this shoot. The affected poses towards the end, the carefree shrug, the emotion in his eyes, and the realness of his pushes (maybe because he's really pissed off with my baby Yoonsu). Everything is fantastic. I want to officially nominate him for Best Actor in a Lead Role in the Asian Film Awards, or whatever.

My Callout Order: Seungsoo, Chulwoo, Jaehyuk, Gibeum, Seunghee, Taeeun, Jungjin, Jian, Jieun, Minjung, Jonghoon, Yerim, Yoonsu, Donggyu

Ah Donggyu, you'll be surely missed. "You've worked hard.." -- Jang Yoonju

BUT IT'S NOT ENOUGH! Haha. Hope to see you again next time.

Again, thanks a million to all who waited for this one. Enjoy! Comments and shares are well-appreciated. Photos courtesy of their owners.
