Korea's Next Top Model 5 Ep 5 Review: The Guy Who Stood Still on the Runway

A major holler from the ghetto to the outback! I really missed updating LVAM, and I know you guys are now waiting for my next reviews. Though I must admit that my reviews are waaaaay delayed than the actual episodes, because they already revealed their final three! O to the M to the G. I'm running all over the hallway right now. *cue fangirl spazzing for three days*

Anyway, without further ado, let's now rip 'em contestants and enjoy seeing their photos here.

The contestants were asked to do a hair campaign for a global fashion brand, and they'll have to shoot for two pictures: the full body shot and the closeup beauty shot. The catch? They'll be blown by two large industrial fans while wearing chiffon. How cool is that? :D

Before that, however, someone got the boot early on because of the runway challenge before the photoshoot. They wore pieces from the neoclassical Italian M brand, while walking on a runway with Dickpunks playing songs on the side. The show was funky, chic and upbeat. Kudos to KNTM!

Sadly, Han Jian was ousted from the running. She was the poor girl who got the boot in the surprise elimination on the runway. Too bad she sprained her foot in the previous shoot, but I'm wondering where on earth did she sprain her foot there. Anyway, I saw her determination to do good for this challenge. She gave her best shot, but the judges thought that it's not enough. I somewhat remember her in episode 4. She said that she'll be eliminated if there'd be a runway challenge. And that happened right there and then. The situation was unfortunate. :(( *repressed sobs* But the most heartbreaking part was when Gippeum cried because she'll be alone now. She's really close to Jian. That was really heartbreaking. <|3

Now, on to the remaining contestants, starting with...

Bang Taeeun. Because he's an experienced model before he came to KNTM, his walk was more polished than the others. For me, his walk was okay. No faults, but nothing special whatsoever. Oh, maybe I'm just used to lots of twirls and swirls and tons of flirting with the camera. Thank you, Miss Universe. LOL :D His photos were polished, and it showed the experience that he had before. His photos may not be as stellar as Chulwoo's or Seungsoo's, but he made his mark there as one of the dark horses in the competition. I love the full body shot. He's an iconic, artistic and high fashion representation of taegukgi in the Korean flag. I also love the come hither stare in his closeup. So intimidating yet so titillating.

Next is Kim Yerim. I'm getting used to her quirky hairstyle and her cutesy flirtation with Seungsoo. Her walk was one of the most improved, tbh. It was really nerve-wracking to open the show, and she did it well. Save for the shoe situation, she did well. As for the photo, it was a bit meh for me still. I liked the closed eyes and the slightly open mouth in the full body shot. It looks like she's a sea nymph who has been a captive of the Sea Queen for so long. I like the emotion in this shot. The closeup gave me rich Asian bitchy vibes for days, but I think the eyes are a bit unfocused if you looked closely. Still middling, meh.

Kim Minjung, my baby. I personally believe that she's one of the dark horses to watch for in this competition. From anonymity to recognition, this girl is really becoming a threat as she rises to the top. Minjung's eyes are spicy, according to the photographer. I agreed with him on that point, because there is something in her eyes that exudes mystery and spice in every shot. In the closeup shot, the hair partly covering her face is cool, and so are the freckles. My sassy Asian Ginny Weasley is really cool in both shots. A bit middling, but she's notches higher than Yerim.

Oh, Hyun Jieun. She looks like she's entangled in the clouds. I like the grace in the full body shot, as she looked like a cool high fashion phoenix rising from the ashes. My problem with her? Her eyes. Those are my eyes when I'm bored and bitchy about something I don't really like. Unlike Minjung, her eyes are expressionless. Plain, meh, bland, mineral water from the vendo machine. Her walk was also meh. No spice or verve, even for runway. Why is she still here? :o

Choi Jungjin is next. Oh, goodness gracious. I fell in love with Jungjin's full body shot. It was really mind-blowing! Yoonju thought the chiffon was protecting him. I thought that he looked like a Chinese rickshaw peddler from Hong Kong. I like the sleek lines in this shot. I can feel his energy and he's channeling it to me. The stare is also mad, and he's really here to stay one more week.

Kim Jonghoon. I don't like the shots. The full body shot seemed pathetic. Just standing there while letting the chiffon devour you? So not cool. I kinda liked the closeup shot. He looked like someone from Naruto. Last week, he was chastised for being over the top a la Lisa D' Amato (ANTM Cycle 17 winner), and he's really trying to tame his showmanship. His walk was also frowned upon by Anna Wintour-eu, who mocked him while he's doing his thing on the runway. I so want to whack Anna Wintour-eu with my flashy Louboutins. Grr. >____<

Lee Chulwoo. He was the first one to shoot for this episode, and he set the bar really HIGH. Oh good lord, he's insane! The full body shot was to die for, and while he's not looking into the camera, he really nailed this shot. HARD, like a hammer. Yowwwzuuuuuuh. The communication between him and the camera was still seen, and felt. The closeup shot was really amazeballs, it threw me aside and aside and aside for seven days nonstop. Nah, kiddding. The hair flying off his face was genius, and his stare was cold yet scrutinizing for me. I hate his nose here, though. It looked kinda big, but oh well. This is amazeballs.

Oh hail Hwang Gippeum. Oh, my Shiseido goddess continues to roar and roar and roar into fame and universal glamor. She's really crazy! The open-mouth, slightly closed peepers might be two seconds away from being porn-ish, but she made it high fashion. She made the styling work. If you'll force me to go to work wearing Mozart hair and billowy chiffon, I'll stone you to death. With my Givenchy clutches, lol! That's stoning to death in style! Kidding. She again used the open mouth, slightly closed peeper stare in her closeup. This definitely worked here. I like the tension in the neck. Every inch is really amazing. Oh hail the Shiseido goddess!

My future K-pop rock star Kim Seunghee. Seunghee was the weakest link among the models for this episode. While she got praise for her improved walk (Yongsoo's description of her walk: "It's like she's stuck to the ground" threw me off course for days on end), she simply didn't deliver for the judges. I agreed with Anna Wintour-eu here, that the same facial expression was seen all throughout her film. Whoooo child, Tyra would lash on you for that! :o I wished the stylists didn't turn Seunghee's hair into churros for the full body shot. Her closeup reminded me of somewho who just woke up. I love the hair, and the slightly opened mouth, though. Still, I thought she's stronger than Yerim by just one teeny point.

Ah, my poster boy Jung Yongsoo. He got a warning from Ms Han before his take, and he's really determined to "break the hyungs and nunas prejudices". Especially Jieun. I want to smack her with my Christian dior clutch, goodness. Maybe whacking you with that on the face will give your face a variety of expressions. LOL anyway, he surprisingly delivered for this shoot. I like the full body shot, because it exuded innocence, a bit of apprehension and confusion, but in a whimsical, carefree way. He's like a flag bearer. The stare he gave in the closeup pierced my soul, and swear to the gods and goddesses in Barneys, I can just stare at his face for hours and I'll be craving for more. Oh, the praises. :o I am really supportive of him, and I know that he'll do really well.

Last up is Han Seungsoo. Seungsoo still is the poster boy of Anna Wintour-eu. She heaped praises upon praises onto his douchey head. While he looked douchey in the photos, I must say that he still can deliver, and nailed it in the process. The drama in the full body shot is amazeballs to the 52nd floor of the Petronas Towers, and it also oozes with masculinity and verve. The closeup shot also delivered, and I must say I like his nose here. The masculinity of his stare and the softness of the lines of his face made this one a standout. Anna Wintour-eu went all over the moon and stars again for this one, and I must say I couldn't agree more.

My Callout Order: Gippeum, Seungsoo, Chulwoo, Yongsoo, Jungjin, Minjung, Taeeun, Seunghee, Jonghoon, Jieun, Yerim, Jian

So sad to see Jian go. But that's life. I hope her sprained foot will be better now. :((

So much for that, birdies and bees! Thanks a million for reading this post. Share the love! Comments will be well-appreciated.

xoxo
